How to Keep Your Discord Account Secure

1. Enable Two Factor Authentication
Two factor authentication makes it so that a potential bad actor has to have your password and an authentication code from an external source to get into your account. It makes your account way harder to compromise and significantly increases security, if you have the opportunity to enable this option for any sign-ins on an account, you should always do so.

2. Never Click On Suspicious Links
If someone (especially someone random) sends you a link to something, don't click on it if it looks weird! If you come across something that looks weird you can always run the link through a website like VirusTotal to determine whether or not the link is secure.

If you think something looks weird, then don't click on it! This also applies for QR codes as well! Don't scan QR codes that you don't trust!

3. Be Aware of Common Scamming Methods
If you get a DM from someone you have never talked to and they are offering to give you something (or are saying they did something to you) report it and ignore it! If they send links don't click on them!

A random account will offer you free nitro as a giveaway/partnership prize, these are not real!

A random account will DM you saying that they reported your account, and give you steps to fix it.

A random account will DM you a link to a Discord Inv. with a message generally saying something along the lines of "check this out"
When you join the discord, you will be prompted to scan a QR code to get access to the channels.

A verification bot will never ask you to scan a QR code to gain access to channels!
